Well I think most knew it was only a matter of time before Jeff Gordon would get his first win of the season.  Another lap and I think Kevin Harvick would have had his 3rd win of the season though.

No points racing this weekend, off to Charlotte on Saturday for the All Star Race.  Expect Kevin Harvick to be a factor in this one, they are putting the best cars on the track right now.

Glasses holds onto top spot followed by Rusty Cup, Slant, Scott Morrow and Hot Chili Heat.

Rounding out the top 10 we have Sue Byers,  Irv-1, Smokinjoe00, Irv-a, Nana’s Pick, and Broken Dreams.

Most points for the week goes to Rear Gunner with 296.

Biggest gain for the week also goes to Kim-Way and  Cl0-moe both up 16 spots.

Biggest slide for the week goes to The Bandit down 13 spots.

Well typical Talladega or restrictor plate racing in general.  Denny gets his first win of 2014, not sure he would have held on had the win had it went green to the finish.  Regardless he gets the win and pretty gives himself spot in the Chase.

Talladega

Well more hot tempers this week but more of just words than anything.  Race Hard Brad Keselowski causes a big pile up while racing hard to get one of his six laps back.  Good work Brad, don’t worry about almost wrecking the whole field at the start of the race either.  Maybe if Brad is lucky Burger King will name a BK Special after him for Sundays, call it the BK Full of Baloney Sandwich.

Glasses holds onto top spot followed by Rusty Cup, Slant, Sue Byers and Scott Morrow.

Rounding out the top 10 we have Irv-1, Nana’s Pick, KC’s Dad-Help Me, Hot Chili Heat and Smokinjoe00.

Most points for the week goes to 5 Star with 327.

Biggest gain for the week also goes to Wiarton Willie up 31 spots.

Biggest slide for the week goes to Homeracer down 28 spots.

Off to Kansas this weekend. See ya after Sunday.

Well another 2 time winner for 2014 with Joey Logano getting the job done in Richmond.  Good finish to the race, lots of tempers flaring post race.

Richmond

Marcos Ambrose tags Casey Mears with a right hook after the race and gets fined by Nascar.  I guess Marcos wasn’t too thrilled with Casey throwing him around and did something about it.  Casey said he congrats Marcos for the good shot, said he landed a solid one. Good enough to knock his hat off in the process.

Marcos Ambrose

Looks like Brad Keselowski and Matt Kenseth are having a twitter war this week as well.

Most points for the week goes to 5 Star with 327.

Biggest gain for the week also goes to 5 Star up 25 spots.

Biggest slide for the week goes to Derrick Cunningham and Dozer both down 20 spots.

Off to a super speedway track we go this week in Talladega.  Hopefully the short track tempers from Richmond can hold off for a week and not wreck the entire field this week in retaliation.

Well we finally have our first 2-time winner for 2014.  Kevin Harvick gets the job done, had the best car all day long in Darlington.  Had it not been for mechanical failure I think Kevin might have 4-5 wins already this year.

Darlington

Kevin looks to be at his best this year and Dale Jr. got close again to his second win of the season.  The restarts for Jeff Gordon had to be the worst restarts ever, maybe he needs some lessons from Kyle Busch, Tony Stewart or Danica Patrick.

Most points for the week goes to Rusty-Cup with 333.

Biggest gain for the week goes to Sparky and Team Cool both up 24 spots..

Biggest slide for the week goes to Zoomba’s down 28 spots.

No race this weekend, time to enjoy Easter with the family.

Off to Richmond next weekend, will Kevin get his 3rd win of the season?

Seven races and seven different winners, you can’t ask for anything better than that!  Joey Logano gets the win in Texas, we knew he would get there at some point this year.

Texas

Joey gets the job done, Jeff Gordon gets closer to the win but couldn’t close the deal.  Kevin Harvick has to be pretty upset, another great car only to have an engine expire early.  Dale Jr. cut the corner on the front stretch and took himself and ultimately Jimmie Johnson out of the race.

Most points for the week does to Sue Byers with 292.

Biggest gain for the week goes to mama-mia up 31 spots..

Biggest slide for the week goes to Pubbers pubbers down 30 spots.

Off to Darlington we go with week, another track Joey is good at.

Beating Jimmie Johnson at Martinsville?  Yes maybe Jeff Gordon has done it once but who would of thought it would have been Kurt Busch, impressive.

martinsville

The old Kurt Busch from the past was there for a bit but he didn’t let the media rain on his parade.  Stewart-Haas gets their second win of the season and more importantly Gene Haas gets his sponsored car in the winners circle for the first time.

I think Denny Hamlin might have to eat crow now, yep never even got close all day long to looking like he could win the race.

What about hot head Bad Brad, telling everyone if Kurt wanted to come down and fight he knew where to find him, lol.

Glasses takes over first place followed by Rusty-Cup, Slant, Irv-a and W.K.C Racing

Rounding out the top 10 we have JoJo24, Nana’s Pick, Dog Days, Scott Morrow and Suezie.

Most Points for the week goes to The Handi-cappers with 306.

Biggest gain for the week goes to Flat Tire up 26 spots..

Biggest slide for the week goes to Homeracer down 49 spots.

Off to Texas we go this week.  I wonder if there will be a tire issue this week?

Well wasn’t that a wild one at Fontana.  Kyle Busch gets his first win of the year in a Cup car, bang win one and you’re in!

Fontana

I am torn on the tire issue, yes lots had issues but lots didn’t.  For the those that didn’t how many cars could have made a full fuel run had there every been an opportunity for one?  Nascar’s response was the tire was fine the teams were just aggressive on the setups.  Okay why wasn’t there an issue at Las Vegas if that was the case, they all just got aggressive for this race and not there?  Sure Fontana is a rough track and harder on tires but you would hope we would never see another Indy race where they purposely put out cautions because they knew the tires would not last.  This wasn’t that bad but it did deter from the racing.  Maybe force them to run minimal air pressures if they can guarantee that will fix the problem.  Regardless while they did race it was good racing, just would have been nice to see at least one full fuel run for pit stops.

I wonder if Clint Bowyer spun his car again to bring out a caution with 2 laps to go, hmmm we will never know.  Yes he did have a tire go down but really, thought he was a better driver than that.

In the pool we have Rusty-Cup, Glasses, JoJo24, Slant and Nana’s Pick.

Rounding out the top 10 we have W.K.C Racing, Irv-1, Shot in the Dark, Dog Days and Mitchman.

Most Points for the week goes to Wayne Walker with 332

Biggest gain for the week goes to Wayne Walker up 55 spots..

Biggest slide for the week goes to Fishin in the Dark down 44 spots.

Off to Martinsville we go this week.  Short track tempers should make for some good racing.  See ya after the race on Sunday.

Well Carl Edwards gets the easy season win by taking the day turned night race in Bristol.  The call to leave Carl out on the last 2 restarts was the winning call for sure.  4 races in and we have 4 different winners.

Food City 500

I think we all knew Dale Jr. couldn’t keep up the back to back 1-2 finishes forever.  But with the new point system I honestly think if you don’t have a win you won’t make the Chase.  So Dale Jr. is all but in so what did they have to loose but do make drastic car changes all day long to try to get him the win.  Guys like Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Joey Logano, etc. have to figure out good finishes aren’t worth anything but TV time which the sponsors do need but it doesn’t get them into the Chase with only top 5 or top 10 finishes.  The guys that do have the win already can focus on the last 10 races for the year and work on how to make their cars the best for those races, huge advantage!

It was kind of annoying listening to Daryl Waltrip repeatedly saying this is the best Bristol race Fox has ever broadcast, okay we get it Daryl.  Sure the racing is better this year but no one wanted to see it rain during the day so we could have a night race in the spring so enough of the “this is the best ever” over and over.  The surprise for me is how strong Kevin Harvick has been this year.  Honestly had he not had failures for the last 2 weeks I think he would have 3 wins already.  It was the right call for him to demand Rodney Childers from the 55 team before signing with Stewart-Haas, what a great combination they are going to be this year.  That is assuming they can get the cars to stay together, I am sure they will work out the kinks there.

In the pool we have Nana’s Pick takes over 1st place followed by Rusty-Cap, JoJo24, Glasses and Big Buzz.

Rounding out the top 10 we have Irv-1, Best of the Best, FordRacing19, Mitchman and Legion-of-Doom #2

Most Points for the week goes to FordRacing19 with 301

Biggest gain for the week goes to Scott Morrow up 45 spots.

Biggest slide for the week goes to Slickz 6 down 48 spots.

Off to Fontana we go this week.  If you were good in Las Vegas you should be good in Fontana.

See ya after the race on Sunday.

Well looks like Bad Brad is back, he gets the win at Las Vegas. Dale Jr. starts to run out of gas in corner 2 of the last lap and had to settle for 2nd.

LasVegas

Well I honestly thought Dale Jr. was going to get the win but running out of gas on the last lap has been a theme for him.  At least Jr. ran good again and it looks like his crew chief Steve Letarte has found a package that Dale likes.  Don’t be surprised to see Dale running great at the 1.5-2.0 miles tracks where he can rail rim the car around the top.

Racing is better this year I think but I still hear the drivers complaining about once they get back past 5th it is hard to pass because of the dirty air they call it.  I think once the teams get better adjusted to the new rules with ride height, etc. we will see better racing yet.  Kevin Harvick seemed to have a car that could pass at will so if they can give him a car like that 2 weeks in a row it is just a matter of either being a better driver and adapting or the crew chiefs making the cars even better.

In the pool we have JoJo24 followed by Rusty-Cup, Glasses, Bon and Nana’s Pick.

Rounding out the top 10 we have Mac, Wiarton Service, Pete Marshall, 5 Star and Papa Bill.

Anyone who had Austin Dillon in Group 6 was missing his points for the first 2 weeks.  I had Austin in the 29 car and not the 3 so pool standings changed a bit this week because of that.

Most Points for the week goes to  5 Star with 312.  Hope you are enjoying coming home to the snow 5star.

Off to Bristol this weekend my friends, will see some wild racing this weekend for sure!

Pool entries have all been entered for the 2014 season.  Please check the accuracy of your team under the Links Section on the bottom left side of the website.

Well first post of the season, sorry for the late update.

DaleJrDaytonaDaytona 500 is over with Dale Jr. getting the win and for all senses of imagination punches his ticket to the playoffs.  What other sport can win one event and make the playoffs?  Racing was okay in the 500 in my opinion but was typical restrictor plate racing, racing never really started until the last 20-30 laps.  Good to see Dale Jr. in the win column, the fans seems to agree.

Many new changes to this years Nascar Sprint Cup Series with a new Chase Playoff system and new knock out qualifying rules.  Never got to see the qualifying for this past weekends Phoenix race, mixed fan reactions to that so will have to play both of these out as the season goes on.

KevinHarvickPhoenixOff to Phoenix we went this past weekend where Kevin Harvick and the new number 4 team dominated the entire race.  There wasn’t a car that could outrun Kevin at any point on Sunday.  Dale Jr. did try to run him down with laps winding down but I am sure Kevin had more in car and only showed what he needed to get and maintain the lead.  So pretty impressive for a new team, almost a guarantee that they will be in the Chase as well!

So has the first two races been indicative to winning is the only thing that matters?  Well I can’t say it was a war on Sunday to get the win but with Kevin’s car so strong it was hard for anyone to even get to him let alone race with him for the win.  I think as the season starts to wind down approaching the Chase we will see an all out war of drivers that are willing to wreck each other  for a shot at making the Chase.  I honestly think it should make for better racing if battling for a win is the end game.  I am not sure I have heard any Sprint Cup drivers talking about ” it was a great points day” so it has for sure changed how the drivers seem to be taking this new system.  Riding around should be a thing of the past if you ask me.
