The PJ1 compound applied to the track made for a great race. There was passing on the outside, passing on every corner of the track, nicely done. Normally you can only pass on the front stretch if you can get a run on the inside and slingshot into turn 1 after drafting the car down the front stretch.

Well that finish at Kentucky was pretty cool, Busch brothers fought it out cleanly with Kurt getting the win over younger brother Kyle. Overall the race was very entertaining in my opinion, lots of drivers had a chance to win it. I thought Joey Logano for sure was going to get the win as he had the best car overall. Love the look of Kurt’s Monster Energy Paint Scheme, bad azz.

Well as the saying goes, on any given Sunday. Justin Haley gets the win at the rain postponed and then rain shorten race on Sunday at Daytona. Not a bad day for Justin in only his 3rd Cup start!

It was a pretty wild Daytona Restrictor plate racing. The whole blocking, not lifting, etc. has really made this type of racing a farce in my opinion. The drivers really don’t have many options, block so you don’t get passed, don’t lift so you can either push the driver in front of you to draft with them, or if you hit them too hard while drafting you can possibly crash them and possibly you at the same time.

Alex Bowman and the 88 team get the victory in Chicago. Congrats Alex, finally got your first cup win. Chevy in the winner’s circle, wow where did that come from. Jimmie Johnson running up front all day, Chevy’s might be closing the gap on the Toyotas and the Fords.

Well Martin Truex Jr. does it again, gets the job done in Sonoma for another road course victory there. Along the way with Martin holding off another road course master Kyle Busch something was mentioned about there being a rivalry between the two of them. First I had heard of that term being thrown around when their names came up but hey I guess with them having the same equipment and both on top right now there is a fire to beat their teammate with each win that gets added on.

Joey Logano pulled off the victory in Michigan on Monday afternoon, pretty much lead from start to finish. So now after the Michigan race I am a little annoyed with the new rule package in some respects. I have never been a restrictor plate fan for quite some time. The Michigan race reminded me actually of that. Cars could not separate themselves and for the most part if you got out of line to pass without drafting help you could not make the pass. But Michigan hasn’t been great racing for quite some time anyways so at least they tried something to get this aero tight issue fixed. I think they needed another 100+ hp to allow them to pass by themselves. Sad when the Infinity cars are going faster in qualifying than the cup cars at a 2 mile track.

Well typical Pocono, no passing, drivers complaining about can’t pass, etc. Interesting Kyle Busch has been the one guy that has been vocal that he hates this new rules package but he and team seem to have a car that can win every week regardless. My two cents on it Kyle just doesn’t like that that the new package because it brings the competitiveness of all the cars closer together. Allows for teams on lower budgets to compete a bit more which is good for the support IMHO. Kyle can pretty much drive anything to the winner’s circle!

Wow best race of the year in my opinion!  Lots of passing, lots of possible winners, great new package for this track. My only complaint was if they had to get out of the gas to not run someone over for getting blocking, took a while to get back to speed. I am not a big fan of the blocking, but hey it is what it is. But aside from that I thought the whole race was exciting. Brad Keselowski gets the victory, 3rd for this year. It was nice to see Alex Bowman have a shot at a win, 3 straight second place finishes for him and the 88 team.

All-star race this weekend, blah, never been a big fan of this event, needs to be moved around in my opinion.  I do like Charlotte, fast track, lots of passing on the dog leg front stretch, just back to back races there with the Coke 600 there right after takes away from racing there.  Happy to hear they are going to run the road course there in the fall.

Martin Truex Jr. and Cole Pearn seem to settled in after their move to JBR. Second win for the year for Martin and team in a dominating fashion like they seem to do a lot of.

Saturday night race in Kansas this weekend, don’t forget is a Saturday race this weekend.

So Chase Elliot gets the win at Talladega, and the crowd goes wild. Can’t say it was that eventful of a race but not bad for a restrictor place race.

We head to Dover this weekend, Chevy might has a chance at another win but doubtful, look for the Fords, Toyotas to be up front again.
